Yesterday I drove up to the town of Hamilton so that I could photograph my baby brother, Brian, proposing to his girlfriend Emily. I think I was more nervous than the both of them taking those pics! Brian surprised Emily by showing up to the restaurant where she and her family were to have dinner that night, and he blindfolded her and took her upstairs to a private room where they had dinner and dessert. After dinner, he put the blindfold back on her and walked her around for a while knocking on doors and banging on things so she wouldn’t know where she was. They ended up back at the spot where they ate dinner (sans the table that had been moved) standing in the middle of a circle of rose petals and candles, where he got down on one knee and proposed. And she said yes!!
I was so happy to be able to capture those moments for them. It was pretty dark in there and I didn’t want to intrude with flash, so please excuse the graininess. Congrats Brian and Emily - I can’t wait to celebrate your wedding with you!

The whole family…

I had such a great time working with Grace and Clay at their wedding! I loved it how they involved cultural traditions - they held a tea ceremony before their traditional ceremony which I thought was very touching. Everything took place at the Four Seasons and it went off without a hitch thanks to Vivian Miller from Austin Wedding Planners. I loved, loved their cookie thank you bar (I am a cookie lover!) and their smores station. Also, Clay got up on stage at the end of the night and showed off his musical skills - that was great! Congrats Grace and Clay!

It has been a pretty long time since I photographed any kiddos but my neighbor Karen and her friend Tracy asked me to do a session with them and their daughters and I thought it would be fun to try out my skills once more. It was a great time but I forgot how much work it is to photograph kids! Way back in the day I was a manager at a children’s and family portrait studio and it brought back memories - what an exhausting and backbreaking job! We started in my house for a few setups and then moved outside to a field near my house. I think it worked out great and Emily and Izzy are just too cute!

My good friends Diana M Lott and Stacy Sodolak were hired to photograph Lauren and Eric’s wedding in Sarasota, Florida. I went along on the trip to celebrate Diana’s birthday which happened to be on the same day as the wedding. Of course I brought my camera along and decided to shoot a little bit (I couldn’t help myself!) at the wedding…and I’m glad I did. I had a great time meeting Lauren and Eric and what a nice, intimate ceremony they had! Diana and Stacy and I had a great time celebrating Diana’s birthday in Sarasota (actually we stayed in Siesta Key) on the days we weren’t shooting.

Rachel and Patrick had a gorgeous wedding at Casa Blanca in Round Rock. It was my first time to work at Casa Blanca and I thought the property was just gorgeous and so photogenic, nevermind that Rachel and Patrick are adorable and the details of the wedding were so unique and thoughtful! I loved, loved the green grass table toppers with the flowers interspersed. From what I understand, both Patrick and Rachel are a very creative couple so both had a hand in the decor design and creation. The ceremony was very sweet and the party was so much fun - you know it’s a good time when grandpa does a little strip tease! Thanks Rachel and Patrick for having me!

I was able to go to the Chen family home recently to do a portrait session for them that they won after making a generous donation to the American Heart Association last year. They were so great and their basset hound pup was so cute - I had a great time shooting their portraits.

Kristi and Nick are getting married in Houston in July and I’ll be driving down to shoot their wedding, but for a chance of scenery they made the trip up to Austin to to have their engagement pictures taken out on South Congress. They are a fun, awesome couple and I’m very much looking forward to shooting their wedding. We had a good time walking around and they got into town early before the shoot and got to explore Austin and check out a few local hotspots. Hope you guys enjoy the pics, and see you in July!

I had such a great time shooting Jenny and Matt for what you might call their “anniversay” portraits. Jenny is Julianne’s sister (her bridals are a few posts down) and at Julianne’s shoot we got to talking about Jenny’s wedding pics and how she wished she had known me then. I suggested some “anniversary” portraits in their wedding clothes. Jenny convinced Matt who wasn’t too thrilled to don a tux again but Jenny said “he did it because he loves me.” So cute! Jenny even brought details from her wedding and I shot those for her so that she could use those in her album, since she didn’t get many pics of those items at her wedding.
This leads me to a tip - if I’m shooting your wedding - send me an invitation (and any other save the dates, etc) and/or bring it with you to the wedding or give it to me in advance. That way I can get a picture of it at the wedding!

I had the pleasure to photograph Sara and David’s wedding recently in my old stomping grounds of Georgetown at the First United Methodist Church. I’ve known Sara’s mom and dad, Betty and Jesse Ray, since I was a senior in college in Georgetown. It was such an honor when they contacted me so excited for me to photograph Sara’s wedding. It was a beautiful morning wedding and Sara and David and everyone were so great. Of course, Sara is a girl after my own heart with fabulous shoes - though she couldn’t wait to put her comfy shoes back on and I don’t blame her! Sara and David and the entire family - I wish you guys only the best!

I’ve had such a great time working with Sandra and Walker throughout their wedding process. We had a great time on the engagement shoot to start, and so I knew we were a great match. Sandra’s bridal session was equally fun (and I got to practice and feel sympathy for those who “dress” the bride too), so I was very much looking forward to shooting their wedding which didn’t disappoint. Red Coral Ranch is a great hill country location and I think their decision to move the reception to the red barn worked out great! Everyone had a great time celebrating with them, including the peacocks!
