Kristen is getting married this weekend. After a delay with her dress and alterations, we were able to get her bridal portraits taken before her wedding at one of my favorite locations, Austin 71. Thanks to Ann Dodson with Austin 71, we were able to change locations at the last minute and I think it was the right decision. The classic and architectural lines of Austin 71 worked great with Kristen’s simple dress and classic beauty. Congrats Kristen and I’ll see you this weekend!

Natalie and Lance were married at Azul Beach Resort in Puerto Moreles, Mexico (Riviera Maya) recently. That area is one of my favorite areas to travel to, and coincidentally where I am having my own wedding in January. My good friend Diana M Lott and I were hired to photograph the wedding together, and we had a great time with Natalie and Lance and their family and friends. Natalie was such a good sport - she suffered a tailbone injury in a fall just a few days prior to the wedding while out on an excursion, but she powered thru and didn’t even show that she was in pain! Despite a freak rainstorm right as the ceremony was supposed to start, the wedding went off without a hitch thanks to Carmela with In Style Weddings and Destinations. Also, very funny - Natalie’s aunts later told Natalie that they thought Diana and I were competing photographers (one independent and one with the resort) and that they were afraid we might fight! Too funny!
Congrats Natalie and Lance.

My baby brother Brian recently got engaged and so I offered to take their engagement photos as an engagement gift. My fiance Mike and I had a lot of fun spending the weekend morning with them driving around looking for cool photo spots and having breakfast at our favorite Austin weekend breakfast spot, Hoovers. Mike was a great assistant holding my huge umbrella for a few shots and goofing off the rest of the time, making Brian and Emily laugh. He even posed for a rare photo. Congrats Brian and Emilie - I’m looking forward to actually getting to go to your wedding as a guest and bridesmaid (what a concept!) and also to shooting your bridals and helping you with your save the date cards!

I had the pleasure to photograph Julianne and Joshua’s wedding recently at Hyde Park Baptist and the Phillips Event Center. I photographed Julianne’s sister’s best friends wedding last year, which is how they came to hire me. The event was just beautiful thanks to the creative vision of Julianne’s sister Jenny - who is an event planner herself. Julianne and Josh and their family were so happy, it was evident in all of their faces, and Julianne’s dad and his brothers even gave a Beatle’s serenade to the happy couple at the reception. Congrats Julianne and Josh!

I’ve been wanting to shoot a bridal session at Roadhouse Relics on South 1st for some time now - so I held a blog contest for a free session (if participant paid the location fee) and Sarah was the bridal session winner. I wasn’t disappointed. Sarah was absolutely gorgeous and Roadhouse Relics was a great vintage, fun location with lots of cool spots for pictures!
